Is it because they want to try to force us all to move to Windows 8 even though none of us want to at all? I've also heard at the soon to be closing Microsoft Office here that they plan on diabling all of the Windows Vista and Windows 7 Gadgets completely. Does anyone know how to get them to work when there isn't a good download for Windows Vista or Windows 7 for a "Location Sensor?

Microsoft also wanted to encourage gadget authors to produce apps for what was the incoming new OS. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. I guessed that Microsoft disabled their own Weather Gadget but they also disabled us being able to use other Weather Gadgets for Windows 7, I did try that Weathernetwork App for Windows 7 which it cannot use Apps good at all and I plan on never ever upgrading to the bad Windows 8 OS software, but that is not too good for the Weathernetwork, it's too large since I wanted a "small sized" Gadget to show me current temperatures, and also weather conditions, rain, snow and others.
In my other computer with Unbuntu I can put Gadgets in and my Virus protection software will immediately check them for any and all infections right away and the Weather Gadget for it is perfect, much much better then is the Weathernetwork App one.
The free Apps were safe, but the paid one from Microsoft my Microsoft Certified Security professional found the infection and showed me that it came from a Microsoft App. That is not treating us good at all is it for Windows 8?

Re bad decisions, Microsoft does and it doesn't. I was a big fan of gadgets, well some at least, but I was surprised to find that I was in a definite minority.
One of the reasons for people not using gadgets was because they run everything full screen and can't see them anyway. Other users noted that the gadgets often affected performance, especially any gadget which refreshed at short intervals, and dumped the idea of using gadgets at all. They were a lot less popular than you would like to believe.
Re picking up a virus from a Microsoft app? I did find out that Gadgets were actually really popular all except the one's that did slow down people's computers by refreshing Data Frequently. Yes for sure the Infection did come from Microsoft, and the IT MCP Professional works for Microsoft, one of their senior IT professionals that works at their Office, so yes it did and he confirmed it, it did come through Widows 8 through their own Apps area for the one I downloaded and installed, was a major infection, and I've found where this is the case frequently with Windows 8 Apps.
